WRITE
Writing public officials in your own words is powerful.
When you write* your public official:
-
Address him or her as, "The Honorable [full name]."

-
Reference the issue and your purpose for writing in the first sentence; then, describe why it matters to you.

-
Keep your letter or e-mail concise and respectful.

* Public officials realize composing a letter takes time --- so assume your concern means a lot to you and give it the much weight than a phone call, e-mail note and especially a petition signature.
